Joey’s Pet of the Week

Hey everyone!! How are you all? I’ve had a GREAT week! It’s been another busy one, which means that there is no shortage of people and pets around for me to chat to. And then on Tuesday I won the GVH Melbourne Cup sweep!! There were some pretty upset people complaining about me winning. Apparently they didn’t think that I would put the winnings to good use. I can’t see a problem with spending $30 on Fancy Feast…..

Little Ruby Loneragan is continuing to improve at home. She still needs to take it easy, but Dr David said she is getting stronger every day. Ruby being sick certainly made us all appreciate how stressful it is when your fur-baby is unwell. Because we spend our days with sick and injured animals, we do sometimes forget that that isn’t normal for everyone.

You will remember me telling you about our big friend Mogador, the 50kg Newfoundland we had staying with us for a bit of rehab after having surgery with SASH on both her knees. Well the day after Mogador went home, she managed to break the hard wear in one of her knees and had to go back in for more surgery with SASH!! The good news is that the surgery went well and Mogador PROMISES to be a good girl and take it easy this time around!

I’m super excited about my stars for this week. I always love when we have these guys come in, I spend a whole bunch of my time talking to them and trying to steal their food. We have stray kittens!!! These little ones came from a feral cat colony in Pymble and were brought in to us by a client who has been spending a lot of her time taking care of the feral kitty’s. We have two boys and a girl and they are about 5weeks old, which means they will be ready for their new homes in 2-3weeks. Dr John has given them all a health check and they are healthy little munchkins who are full of beans and mischief! I know I say this every time we have kittens, but I’m pretty sure these are the cheekiest kittens we have had! They have two speeds, crazy monkey or flat out sleeping! They do give amazing cuddles and don’t seem to be bothered by dogs. If you are in the market for a new feline friend, pop in and meet the little possums. The adoption fee for the little lady is $350 and for the boys it’s $250. This includes two vaccinations, desexing and microchipping and their initial worming and flea treatments.

I finish off each week saying this, but please make sure you are applying tick prevention to your pets. We sadly lost a little tick paralysis case last night, so it’s important to be extra vigilant at this time of year with your preventions.
