Bolt’s Troubled Nose
By Kay Hisano | Dated April 15, 2025
Bolt, a 10-month-old Labrador, came to see Dr. Scott for persistent sneezing and a nosebleed. His owners mentioned that this started happening after a walk on the weekend. Concerned that a grass seed could be stuck up his nose, Bolt’s owners have brought him in for further investigation.
Dr. Scott anesthetized Bolt and examined his nasal passages. As suspected, a grass seed was lodged deep in one of his nostrils.
Here is the picture of the grass seed we retrieved from poor Bolt’s nose!
Even small foreign objects like a grass seed can lead to serious infections and even migrate into areas like the lungs or even the brain, causing more significant damage.
Persistent sneezing, especially after outdoor play, can be a sign of a foreign object lodged in your dog’s nose. If you’re ever unsure, a quick vet check can prevent bigger issues down the road!
