Hey gang! How are you all? What’s been happening with you all? Just the usual here with me, working, napping, eating, helping the humans, sleeping and eating. It’s a busy life being a clinic cat.
I did have a special visitor last week. According to the GVH humans, she wasn’t just here to see me, but I know the truth. Ex-Nurse Katrina and Angus came for a visit! Angus has grown!! He gave me a nice pat and I even hung around long enough for Ex-Nurse Katrina to hug me! Ex-Nurse Katrina is enjoying life n Goulburn and is busy with Angus and work. She has promised to come and visit again soon.
Some bittersweet staff news. My good friend Nurse Amy is leaving us and taking a job human Nursing as part of her Uni studies. Nurse Amy will be an assistant Nurse to the Community Health Nurses in the Hornsby area. While I’m very sad that she’s leaving, we are all super proud of her for almost finishing her degree and lining up a job. We wish Nurse Amy all the best.
My star this week is the cheeky Miss Sassy, a 2 1/2 year old Toy Poodle who came in to see Dr John Morgan to have some metal hard wear removed from her leg. Why did she have metal in her leg? Well, when Sassy was just a little puppy, she was only 4months old, she broke her leg. Because she was just a tiny little one and still had a lot of growing to do, Sassy’s Mum and Dr Scott Lackenby opted to send Sassy to see our good friends at SASH to let the specialists handle the surgical repair.
The good thing about broken bones in young animals is that they tend to heal quite well due to the normal growth and development the bones would normally be doing. And this was the case for Miss Sassy! Her broken bone had healed nicely and Dr John Morgan could now remove the metal bits that were stabilising Sassy’s leg. The removal surgery went extremely well and Miss Sassy didn’t even need to spend the night in with us! Dr John sent her home with some pain relief and the cone of shame, Sassy was licking her surgery site, but she was as good as new at her suture removal and once her hair grows back, no one will ever know!!
Well, better go. Have a great weekend everyone and I’ll catch you all next week. Meows for now, love Joey xox
