Hey everyone!! How are you all? As you saw from yesterday’s post, nows the time of year when I start bugging you about ticks. Yep, the pesky little critters are out in force. I’m sure most of you have already started your tick prevention, but if you haven’t, please start now. While they may be small, paralysis ticks are potentially deadly. As much as I love visitors, I would hate to see your pet in here with tick paralysis. There are a bunch of tick preventatives on the market now, so be sure to pop in and see us for advice.
My star this week is the handsome Sarge, a 7 month old British Bulldog from South Turramurra . Sarge came in to see Dr Helen Burns to be desexed and to have his cherry eye repaired. What’s a cherry eye, you ask? Well, it’s a prolapse of a gland on the third eyelid. It’s common in young dogs and also in breeds like Sarge. Both Sarge’s desexing and his cherry eye repair went extremely well. Sarge was up and walking 5 minutes after waking up! He was sent home with some antibiotics, pain relief and some eye ointment, and also had to wear the cone of shame to prevent him from undoing all of Dr Helen’s good work on his eye. Sarge came in a few days after his surgery for a post-op check, and both his eye and his desex wound looked perfect.
Well, I’m off to soak up some afternoon sun. Meows for now, love Joey xoxo
