Hey Gang. I’m a very sad clinic cat as I write this. As you can see from the title of this sad post, Nurse Emma is leaving me. Well, technically she is leaving GVH, but that’s leaving me too. I’m trying to be happy for her and the new adventure she is about to start, but mostly I am just sad that I won’t get to see her as often. Nurse Emma’s last day with us is Friday 24th March. Yep, that’s THIS Friday. And then on Monday, she starts her new job as an Imaging Nurse for our good friends as SASH. This is a brand new role at SASH and Nurse Emma will be in charge of co-ordinating all of the patients from all of the departments who need Xrays or scans, as well as preparing these patients for that. Nurse Emma is really excited about this role as she will get to harness the organisational skills she has developed working on our busy GVH Reception desk but also incorporating her love of the Nursing side of the job.
Nurse Emma is sad about leaving all of the amazing people who work for GVH and also all of our lovely clients, many of whom she has become quite close with, and naturally she is devastated about leaving me. But aside from this being an exciting career move for Nurse Emma, it also provides her with more workable hours to help care for her Mum, who sadly has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. We work long hours at GVH, and it often includes late nights on top of weekend work, and this was proving to be difficult for Nurse Emma when she was trying to co-ordinate care for her Mum.
But the good news is, you will still likely see Nurse Emma around at GVH, just on the other side of the reception desk. She will still be bringing her medically high maintenance but completely adorable dog Gir to us. If I was ever going to approve a clinic dog, Gir would be it.
So, on behalf of everyone at GVH, I would like to wish Nurse Emma all the best in her new adventure. We will miss seeing her but look forward to catching up with her outside of work hours. No doubt to a get together that I won’t be invited to….. Oh, and Nurse Emma, make sure you read the fine print of your leaving contract, the part that says the departing staff member must buy a cake for the clinic cat to eat all to himself with no mention of the word diet…… Meows for now, love Joey xox
