Hey gang! How are you all? A pinch and a punch for the first day of the month! I can’t believe it’s March already!! It’s been a busy week here at GVH. I did post about it last week, but just a reminder that the planned release of the RHVD to help control the wild rabbit population is due to start this week. If you haven’t already got your bunny up to date with their vaccination, please call us to make an appointment.
My star this week is the handsome Quartz, a 2year old Labrador from Pymble who came in to see Dr John Morgan when his Mum noticed he had a sore on the side of his face. Quartz’s Mum said he got bitten on the face a week before when some play with another dog got a bit rough.
When Dr John examined Quartz, he found he had a really nasty dermatitis, commonly called a hot spot, and black waxy discharge from his ear. The hot spot needed to be clipped and cleaned, but Quartz was so sore he was going to need to be sedated.
Once sedated, Dr John and Nurse Brittany were able to clip and clean Quartz’s hot spot and also clean out his mucky ear. Quartz was sent home with both oral and topical antibiotics and also drops for his ear. Once his hair grows back, you’ll never know he had a nasty skin infection.
Well, better go. I am enjoying this cooler weather. I can spend more time outside without cooking myself. Meows for now, love Joey xoxo
