Hey everyone! How are you all? A bit quieter on the staff news front this week, but after all of the birthday celebrations and farewells and cake and pizza last week, it’s been kind of nice for my waist line to just have a regular week.
Dr Sam started back on Tuesday after her amazing family holiday. She is looking tanned and is looking forward to catching up with you all. Dr Scott starts back on the 17th, so if you would like to see either of the Dr Lackenby’s please call to make an appointment.
Speaking of making appointments, don’t forget to call to arrange your free Dental Month dental check. As you saw from last weeks post, I have had mine. It’s quick and painless and is a great way to pick up on early signs of dental disease.
Keeping on the Dental Month theme, my star this week is the handsome Jasper, who came in for a dental procedure with Dr Helen burns. Jasper is a 10year old Moodle, (Maltese x Poodle), and because of his age Dr Helen recommended we take a blood test to make sure Jasper was healthy enough to have an anesthetic. Jasper’s blood test was all good, but we still put him on IV fluids to help support his internal organs during the procedure. Dr Helen was a little concerned that one of Jasper’s teeth needed to be removed, but an Xray showed that the tooth’s root was very healthy, so we will regularly check Jasper’s teeth and he may need to have regular cleanings so we can save the tooth. If it turns out the tooth does need to be removed, Jasper will cope quite fine without it. In fact, we have pets who have ALL of their teeth removed and they still manage to eat dry food! Jasper recovered really well from the dental procedure, and his Mum was happy to have him home with fresh smelling breath!
And remember that Monday is Cupcake Day for the RSPCA and we will be selling lots of yummy treats to raise money for the RSPCA. There will be animal friendly cakes, so everyone in the family can enjoy something! Meows for now, love Joey xoxo
