Bello’s diagnosis of cancer of the spleen could not have been found without ultrasound.

When we need an x-ray or ultrasound, we simply head off to the closest imaging or x-ray centre to have our tests.

Have you noticed that there are no x-ray centres for pets?

Fortunately at Gordon Vet we are able to take digital x-rays, digital dental x-rays as well as perform ultrasound exams in our hospital. This means that there is often no delay or running around required to get your pet the tests that they need. Additionally, we are easily able to refer patients to local specialist practices if they require a CT or MRI scan.

Little Bello the 13 year old much loved Spoodle came to see us recently because he had a nasty bout of gastro, and we were all concerned that he may have been suffering from pancreatitis. As part of our investigation for the vomiting, he had an ultrasound of his abdomen which showed three lumps in his spleen. Once recovered from his sickness, Bello had his spleen removed based on the ultrasound findings, and the results from the lab showed an early form of cancer. If it wasn’t for the ultrasound, we wouldn’t have known what was happening in Bello’s spleen, and the outcome for this sweet little guy could well have been very different.
