New Puppy Pneumonia
By Helen Burns | Dated September 25, 2016
Bordatella, the bacteria responsible for whooping cough in people, has another strain which can cause a nasty pneumonia in dogs, particularly puppies. Read on to find out more about little Ziggy’s rough start to life.
It’s impossible not to fall in love with little Ziggy the 13 week old miniature schnauzer puppy who was smaller than a newborn baby when he first visited us. This tiny little ball of ‘salt and pepper’ hair was coughing and certainly feeling worse for wear. His concerned family brought their new addition in to Gordon Vet, where chest x-rays revealed pneumonia. As he progressed through his 2 week course of antibiotics, his lungs started to sound clearer, and the big cough that came out of his little body gradually resolved. Little Ziggy has now recovered and is making up for lost time, socialising, training, playing with his family, and just looking adorable!
