Joey’s Staff Member of the Month
By Scott Lackenby | Dated November 6, 2014
Hey gang! How are you all? It’s been super busy here at GVH. And with only 48days until Christmas, we are starting to get the cattery ready for our busy cat boarding season. We have already taken some bookings, so if you would like your Feline friend to holiday with me at Christmas, be sure to call us to secure your place. I mean, can you think of a better place to spend Christmas than at a fully air conditioned Pymble Vet clinic with the World’s Best Clinic Cat?!?
My star Staff Member this month is one of the newest members of the GVH team, Nurse Nicole. Nurse Nicole started with us in July this year. Before starting with us, Nurse Nicole was the assistant manager of The Pet Centre at the Macquarie Centre. Did you know that they have cat and kitten adoptions from a rescue organization? How great is that?!? Nurse Nicole said she always wanted to work with animals as they give you humans so much joy and love and as a nurse she is able to help them.
Nurse Nicole says that the best part of the job, aside from hanging out with me, is seeing the recovery process of long term patients nd getting to know them and their family through their treatment. The hardest part is seeing a much loved pet pass away.
Growing up, Nurse Nicole’s first pet was a talking Budgie called Freddie, that had been hand raised by Nurse Nicole’s Mum. When she was four years old, Nurse Nicole developed a stutter and as part of her speech therapy she had to read books out load. Freddie used to sit on Nurse Nicole’s shoulder and would repeat what she was saying but without the stutter. Nurse Nicole’s Mum is convinced that Freddie helped speed up her therapy! Now, Nurse Nicole has a beautiful long haired cat named Princess.
So, next time you come in, be sure to say hello to Nurse Nicole! Well, better go. There’s still plenty of mischief to be had, I mean work to do. I might go and practice my begging ready for puppy preschool on Sunday with Maureen…. Meows for now, love Joey xoxo
