Joey’s Pet of the Week – Old McJoey had a Farm
By Scott Lackenby | Dated February 26, 2015
Hey everyone! How are you all? Did you read Gir’s Adventure yesterday? Isn’t Gir a lucky dog? I bet this is the best holiday she’s had! Although I’m a little jealous that no-one has ever offered to take me to the beach. And Nurse Laura has never taken me to her house to sleep on her bed. All she ever does for me is give me a Frontline spray. Maybe I can convince Dr John to take me home with him sometime. I’d be very good Pymble Vet clinic cat…….
We’ve had some interesting pets in at GVH recently. The types of pets that we don’t see a lot of. I was very interested in both of them, so I thought I’d tell you about them both. The first one is Fluffy,a gorgeous 5year old chicken who had a sore foot. Fluffy’s Mum bought her in to see Dr Helen Burns who diagnosed her with Bumblefoot, which is an infection. Dr Helen has been applying a donut style bandage to help take the pressure off the infected foot as well as oral antibiotics. Fluffy would also need to be kept on soft bedding. As a result of her funny looking bandaged foot, Fluffy’s chicken friends weren’t being very nice to her! Fluffy was in for a check up recently and her foot is looking MUCH better.
My second star was an animal I have NEVER seen before but was very curious about. Candy is a 4month old Pig who came in to see Dr John Morgan for a check up. Candy came from a breeder who had recommended that her new owners de-worm her 4weeks after adopting her. Now we sell a lot of worming tablets for dogs and cats, but we hadn’t had to worm a pig for a while! Luckily for Candy, her worming medication is a liquid, so she didn’t need to have a yucky tablet stuck down her throat. Candy lives with some very spoilt puppy dogs, so no doubt she’ll be equally spoilt. Candy’s Mum and Dad have been coming to GVH for a long time and when they aren’t busy spoiling their animals, they are busy at their restaurant, Hux Dining in Roseville.
Well, better go. I still have a lot of naps, I mean jobs to do before dinner time. Meows for now, love Joey xoxo
