Joey’s Pet of the Week – Molly’s Sticky Situation
By Scott Lackenby | Dated August 25, 2016
Helloooo!! How are you all? Wasn’t that a nice drop of rain?!? I’m not a fan of rainy weather. It means I can’t go outside. And of course I WANT to go outside. But I can’t. All I can do is sit at the door and meow at the clouds….
In some extremely sad clinic news, I have been put on a super doper diet. I may have been slightly over weight at my last weigh in. In my defence, I’m not the one who was feeding me almost double the recommended quantity. Although I certainly wasn’t saying no to it. So I’m back on the Weight Watchers food until I’m back to under 5kg. I’ll keep you posted on my progress.
There’s actually a bit happening here that I think you’ll all be interested in hearing about. Firstly, this Sunday is the annual Gordon Community PreSchool Fun Day. And GVH will again have a stall. And yet again I was not invited. Every year I volunteer and every year I’m forced to stay behind. Be sure to pop in for all the usual Fun Day fun as well as being able to chat to Dr John & Nurse Ange. But not to me. Because I wasn’t invited. Again. It’s on this Sunday 28th August between 10am-2pm at Gordon Community PreSchool which is located in Park Ave Gordon. Be sure to support a great local PreSchool.
Secondly, Nurse Jacqui is back from her 12month overseas study adventure. She has been doing all sorts of amazing things, which didn’t include sending me loads of postcards. She was studying Zoo Conservation Biology with the Manchester Metropolitan University in the UK. She did some work experience at Durrell Wildlife Park in Jersey, Channel islands where she was working with endangered birds and even got to witness some hatching! After that, she was in Cambodia writing up her thesis and volunteering with Save the Bears. These amazing guys have over 135 Sun and Asiatic Black Bears, or Moon Bears, that have been rescued from the wildlife trade. Seeings how busy she was, I’m willing to forgive the lack of postcards. Nurse Jacqui will be doing some casual work with us now that she is back in Sydney, so be sure to say hi if you see her.
My star this week is the gorgeous Miss Molly, a 3year old German Shepherd from Lindfield who cam in to see Dr Sam Lackenby when the stick she was chewing on got stuck in her mouth. Understandably, Molly was not too happy about having a stick stuck in her mouth, and Dr Sam needed to sedate Molly to remove. Luckily for Molly it was easy to remove and hadn’t caused any major damage to her mouth. Dr Sam sent Molly home with strict instruction to leave the sticks alone!!
Well, better go. I’m starting up a petition to see if I can get them to reverse their decision about not letting me come to the Gordon Community PreSchool Fun Day. I’ll let you know when it’s up and running so you can sign it. Meows for now, love Joey xox
