Joey’s Staff Member of the Month
By Scott Lackenby | Dated July 2, 2015
Hey everyone!! How are you all? Things here are pretty good. Nurse Layne is having an amazing time overseas and is making us all jealous with the photos she has been sending through. I will share a few of them with you soon, so keep an eye on the “Staff Snaps” Facebook album. Speaking of amazing holidays, Dr Scott and his girls have headed off on their adventure. Dr Scott will be blogging about the Lackenby’s time away, so I will be able to share some of their photos and stories with you as they come through. I’m sure all of these exotic places are wonderful, but I’m still pretty happy to be a Pymble Vet clinic cat!!
On Monday, we have a locum Vet starting with us to help out while Dr Scott is away. Be sure to tune in Monday and I will introduce you all to Dr Catherine Chen.
My star staff member this week is the newest addition to the GVH family, Nurse Ben. It has been really nice having another man in the clinic, as you know, I’m usually surrounded by girls! Nurse Ben started with us in February of this year. Before coming to join GVH, Nurse Ben was at the Taronga Zoo training institute and also did some house sittng/animal minding for friends and family.
Nurse Ben has always had an affinity with animals and conservation and decided after high school that he wanted to focus on animal studies. Nurse Ben loves science, so the Veterinary industry is a good fit for him!! Growing up, Nurse Ben’s first pet was a Sydney Silky called Indy. His backyard is currently home to 6 chickens and 2 Lhaso Apso pups called Missy and Ollie. The Lhaso’s are a gorgeous breed of dog, and I will profile them soon for Breed of the Month.
Nurse Ben says that the best part of the job is having such amazing work mates, (I didn’t even have to pay him to say that!!), and being able to help/treat animals everyday. Nurse Ben is a self confessed “big softie”, so naturally the worst part of the job is having to say goodbye.
Next time you are in, be sure to keep an eye out for Nurse Ben. He’ll be pretty easy to spot!
Well, better go. It’s almost time for my afternoon siesta. Meows for now, love Joey xox
