Heya peeps! How are you all? No ones melted?? It’s been HOT HOT HOT!! I do really appreciate being a pampered clinic cat with air con when the weather is like this. GVH stays at a lovely temp 24/7 just for me. Ok, so it may also be for the comfort and wellbeing of our hospitalised patients and my lovely boarding friends, but I’m pretty sure the constant pleasant temp is mostly for my benefit.
My star this week is the cheeky Carlos, an 8month old Lagotta Romagnolo from Gordon who came in and saw Dr John Morgan after he got a little impatient for his cheese snack, so ate it plastic wrapping and all!! Now, you wouldn’t think that some plastic wrapping could be such a big deal, but it has the potential to cause an intestinal blockage, which would need to be fixed with surgery, so Dr John recommended that Carlos hang out with us for a bit so we could make him vomit.
Carlos was given an injection to make him vomit. And vomit he did! Some un-chewed chicken, (because chewing clearly slows down the eating!) and the plastic wrapping. After a bath to clean him off, Carlos’ Dad was able to pick him up and take him home. Hopefully Carlos learnt from this and will wait until his snack has been unwrapped in the future!
So, I can hear a lot of you asking “what’s a Lagotta Romagnolo?” Well, it’s a breed of dog silly!! The breed originates from Italy where it is commonly used as a water retriever and is also a popular truffle hunter. They have an average height of around 40-45cm and an average weight of between 11-15kg. They are an active and smart breed who benefit from a moderate level of exercise and training to keep them stimulated. Their thick and curly coat does need some maintenance to keep it looking nice. They also shed very little, so may be a breed to consider if you have allergies.
Well, I better go. I have napping, I mean work, to do! Meows for now, love Joey xox
