Grey’s Anatomy

Grey is an aptly named 8 month old Italian Greyhound who presented to Gordon Vet Hospital with a very sore front leg. On closer inspection by Dr David Loneragan it became clear that Grey had a fractured leg. More specifically the distal radius and ulna of the left front leg were broken. Italian Greyhounds are susceptible to fractures in this area and this is a very commonly seen injury.
Bone fractures are incredibly painful so Dr David very kindly helped Grey by giving him an opioid pain relief injection. Given the location of the fracture and its complexity Grey was referred to our good friends at Northside Veterinary Specialists while his pain was controlled. There Dr Ross McGregor performed a plate repair of the fracture and Grey has made a full recovery. Some of the radiographs of the fracture are below for your interested as well as a photo of the handsome man having made a full recovery!!
