CPR training for our reception staff
By Zoe Levesque | Dated August 17, 2026
Recently, our reception team took part in a comprehensive CPR training course with Dr Lucy at FlexiVet Training. The course was undertaken as part of Gordon Vet Hospital’s ongoing skills development for all our staff. While our lovely reception team is often the first point of contact for clients and patients arriving at the practice, their roles extend far beyond answering phones and managing appointments. In emergency situations, they are imperative in ensuring the nurses and vets are supported and rapid action can be taken.

The training course focused on recognising emergency situations, understanding the principles of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and learning how to respond calmly and efficiently when every second counts. Using CPR dog models, they were able to practice heart compressions, tracheal intubation and assessing vital signs – skills which are critical in an emergency. The team enjoyed their time with Dr Lucy at FlexiVet Training and feel much more confident and equipped to deal with the rare but stressful situations where CPR is needed.

Investing in ongoing training reflects our commitment to providing the highest standard of care across every area of the practice. We are proud of our reception team for embracing this opportunity and demonstrating their dedication to continuous learning. Their enthusiasm and professionalism ensure that, whether greeting clients at the front desk or assisting during an emergency, they remain an essential part of delivering exceptional veterinary care.
