These gorgeous pets have all been shaved at Gordon Vet as part of tick searching and treatment for tick paralysis. When you are searching for a critter that may only be several millimetres in diameter, hidden in the long, thick coat of a German Shepherd or a Siberian Husky, it fees like you’re looking for a needle in a haystack. In contrast, when a dog or cat is shaved like this, it doesn’t leave anywhere for nasty little ticks to hide, and that’s just the way we like it!
Of course we’re not advocating that all dogs and cats need their trusses trimmed, however if we are suspicious that your pet may have a tick, then you may well hear us recommend that we shave your pet. They too may look as sleek as these four legged friends.
As we near the half way point of the tick season, please remember to ensure that your pet’s tick control is being used correctly, and don’t forget to tick search your pet every day. We really do love their beautiful coats!
