Grass seed 1 : Cat’s eye 0

Ragnar is a 2-year-old cat who presented to us with a very painful eye. Ragnar had been playing around the neighbourhood when he came back home, unable to open his eye. His parents brought him to get assessed and treated by Dr Zoë.

On closer examination, a large grass seed (see below!) was found lodged within his conjunctiva and was causing significant scratching and irritation to his cornea. Using a sterilised cotton tip, Dr Zoë was able to gently remove the lodged grass seed and check for any further foreign bodies in his eye. Because of the grass seed, Ragnar also had a corneal ulcer, which required some antibiotic drops to treat. Luckily, Ragnar was rapidly back to his normal self, walking around the neighbourhood.
